“Happy Go Round” is an initiative to reach out to those segments of our society whom I feel have been largely ignored.  The idea is simple.  Food = Happiness.  So we spread happiness around through food!

Singapore depends on these foreign workers who have left their own homes to work on our shores to build our roads and buildings.  We are a country that is built by migrant workers, yet, we know very little about them.

Together with 75 volunteers, we visited the Westlite dormitory in Tuas and put on a Singapore style BBQ for 400 migrant workers!  It was an evening of fun and rivalry and we all managed to connect with the Indians, Bangladeshis and Chinese, most of whom are in the construction industry.   They are men with wives, children, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers with their own ambitions and aspirations.  We all felt a real sense of gratitude expressed by the workers that Singaporeans have made the effort to throw a party for them!

"I want to thank all our sponsors who have made the event a great success!  Thanks especially to Ezbbq for catering the food. They did a great job and our team found the dishes all very well prepared and delicious.  Thanks also to M1 for donating the backpacks and the first prize of a smartphone for our lucky draw!  The winner was smiling from ear to ear!   A big thank you to all our volunteers who came to help out in the event.  I am sure you all will agree that our lives have been enriched by the experience.  Thanks also to theSingapore Kindness Movement and Goducate for organizing the event." - Leslie Tay, ieatishootipost.

If your company or organization would like to organize similar events (on a smaller scale perhaps), the Westlite management would be more than happy to assist!  You can write to Mr Ken Yue at kenyue@weslite.com.sg for more information.  It is certainly something that is very meaningful to do for your corporate reach out programs!
